Gas Sampling

The customer asked us to design and build a system for Gas Sampling which involved controlling the vacuum and flow achieved to strict levels. The system was required to be free standing, skid mounted and self contained.
  
Our solution was a skid mounted system utilising 3 off SAH 155 Side Channel Blowers on a duty / stand-by / stand-by basis, which achieved the required duty via variable speed drives all operated by a complex PLC control system which controlled flow and vacuum levels. 

Working with our partners we designed a control system which suited the customer’s requirements after consultation and discussions with them regarding the working parameters.

During construction of the system the customer visited our premises to inspect and test various aspects of the build and performance, including witnessing running tests and controlled duty requirements. Our engineers were happy to accommodate the customers requests and gave full access to the design and build processes to them. Working with the customer the system was delivered on time and to specification.


Nuclear Industry

Our customer (supplying the nuclear industry) contracted us to design and build to a very detailed specification a system for drawing air through a number of remote radiation particle sensors. This is a  process that involves precise control of the suction pressure and air  flow rate through the central suction system pipe work. The system was required to be free standing, skid mounted and self contained.

During the initial design phase, our engineers introduced the concept of motor speed control to improve the overall efficiency of the system. This had not previously been considered by the client, but was accepted after an evaluation of the idea by them.
 
Our solution was a system utilising 3 off SAH 155 Side Channel Blowers on a rotating duty /stand-by / stand-by basis and achieved the required duty via variable speed drive by frequency converter to each pump, making best use of the sophisticated on board PID control functions in conjunction with pressure transducer inputs and a series of control relays. It was a condition of the design specification that a minimum of two pumps should run at any time, each drawing power from independent electrical supplies, without the use of any programmable control device (i.e. PLC or equivalent).

Working with our business partners, and after considerable consultation and discussion with the customer, we designed a control system which met the specification, and proceeded with manufacture .

During construction of the system the customer visited our premises on a number of occasions, to inspect and test various aspects of the build and performance, including a full witness running test on final completion. Our engineers were happy to accommodate the customer's requests and gave them full access to the design and build processes.  Working with the customer at all times, the system was delivered on time and to specification. Site installation has now been completed by the customer, and excellent reports on the system operation have been received back.
